The leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the Ukwa-Ngwa, has distanced themselves from the pronouncement made by Prince Paul Ikonne claiming that 9 chairmen of the party from Ukwa/Ngwa bloc have endorsed Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu.
In a press release made available to News Men, the party’s publicity secretary Comrade Benedict Godson described Ikonne who went on air to allege that all APC Chairmen and stakeholders from Ukwa-Ngwa extraction authorized him to speak on their behalf.
Comrade Godson said, Prince Ikonne failed woefully in the APC Direct Primaries as he came almost last, was on air for an hour tonight (Thursday night) on Magic FM, Aba campaigning for governor Okezie Ikpeazu against his party’s candidate, Dr. Uche Sampson Ogah.
Ikonne openly urged the people to support Ikpeazu against his own party’s candidate citing good performance and equity as the reason why the governor should be re-election.
The Osusu Aba born Prince went ahead to claim that God has given Okezie Ikpeazu the position of governor of Abia and should be supported by all.
Reacting to Ikonne’s claim of endorsement by APC Ukwa-Ngwa, the Publicity Secretary of APC, Comrade Benedict Godson who is also an Ukwa-Ngwa son, said none of the Ukwa-Ngwa Chairmen is in support of what Ikonne said.
He stated that after due consultation with all party stakeholders in Ukwa-Ngwa including the 9 Chairmen, non of them supported Ikonne in what he described as clannish and shameful endorsement.
Godson stressed that Ikonne was only acting a script written to him by his paymasters as he lacks the backing of any member of the party not to talk the ever committed chairmen of Ukwa-Ngwa political bloc.
Godson urged all APC members and Abians in general to ignore the suspicious, last minute, desperate and anti party activity exhibited by Paul Ikonne and come out massively to vote for Dr. Uche Sampson Ogah on Saturday.
It will be recalled that Prince Paul Ikonne was among the aspirants that contested the APC primaries in the state with the winner and currently the party’s candidate, Dr. Uche Sampson Ogah.
“What Paul did was clannish and inconsequential. Nobody in APC backed him. He just wants to sound relevant, but every sane mind know that he’s acting a script and it was so shameful to hear him make a mockery of himself in that manner.
“I believe his one hour broadcast tonight was a blatant balderdash and a comic relief to some persons that needs to laugh during this period. To us it was just a kindergarten joke. Tales By Moonlight to be precised.”
